What can you do? #ACT

Reducing your carbon footprint can have a big impact on the ever-increasing climate change. Here's a few easy tips:

  • When possible, walk or ride a bike and if not try to use public transport.

  • Eat less meat, in particular beef and lamb.

  • Make sure your house is properly insulated so that you do not need to use as much  large quantities of energy.

  • Avoid buying that new iphone/laptop if your old one is still going.

  • Switch to LEDs - makes good financial and carbon sense to switch over from halogen bulbs.

  • CONSUME LESS!

    • Make a list before you go food shopping. Plan your meals Only buy what you are going to eat and buy local (avoiding carbon emissions on the way to your fridge).

    • When shopping for clothes, think before you buy. Am I going to wear this 30 times? If not leave it on the shelf.

  • Buy from companies that support the switch to a low-carbon future. The more support an Eco-friendly business has the more aggressive they will be in reducing their carbon footprint.

  • Pressure your government to use renewable energy. The more pressure they feel the more they will be inclined to go green.

Join a climate active society in your area

In every city, town and local community, there are lots of local and national organisations working to combat climate change and its effects. Whether its in your local town cleanup group, your University's green campus society or with national organisations such as NGOs or government groups. Get Green, get involved, no matter how big or small, every little helps!
